Question after first hair henna

I dyed my hair yesterday with henna and black walnut -- 100 g. henna and 2 oz.
black walnut.

My nautral color is very dark brown, although I have a fair amount of gray and some
fading on the ends from past chemical dyes (2 years ago)

The resulting color is, at least right now, more orange than I was hoping for -- a
coppery carroty color, especially where it was very light. Will the orangey fade?

How can I aim towards a less orangey-red in the future?

If I get a sample of indigo and mix it with the leftover henna-black walnut mix (which
I froze) would that maybe make something more in the cool-red family, closer to a
burgundy, next time I try this (if there is a next time ... still not sure!)

thanks,
Kim in MI
