: Diane,
:
: The three henna's in 2 days actually still made my hair soft and
: shiny. OF course, I must have washed each application (except for
: the last) about 5 times --- including using baking soda to try and
: remove as much henna as I could. needless to say, my poor hands
are
: VERY dry now!
:
: The 3rd application did negate the green tint from the 2nd. By
: this time, my hair was so dark, that the orange was not so bright
: and carrot-like. In the sun, I get that red/rust color that henna
: always gives. Not a problem for me, as my normal hair has copper
: tones to it (despite my cool complexion).
:
: HTH!

Hi again Dagny,
Now you’ve got me really curious, and maybe you can help me with a
few questions! I remember that you responded to one of my posts
saying that it sounded like we had similar colouring. I am a natural
redhead, which I would describe as auburn with a lot of copper
highlights. I also had a good percentage of golden blonde hairs as
well. My skin colouring however is cool; very fair with bluey
undertones, and I have blue/grey eyes.
You might remember me saying that I was shocked and worried by the
initial orangey tones I got with the pure natural henna. Like I
advised you, I did nothing and within a few days to a week the orange
had settled down to a beautiful bright chestnut. I do love it,
however, the warmer red doesn’t really suit my colouring, at least
not as much as a more purpley burgundy red would. I’m wondering how I
can push the natural henna towards that direction and I was thinking
of adding in a brand mix like Light Mountain, or Logona, in black,
for the indigo. (My thinking: blue + orange = purple, right?)
However, now I’m scared of the indigo idea seeing as you and Jane
both have gotten greeny tints from it! I wonder if my lighter hairs
would take up the green cast too?! My questions: first of all can
you tell me where you got this classification system (level 4, level
6, etc.) for hair colour? I’m curious about it. Also, in the past
when you had the “green” result from the Light Mountain, had you done
strand tests, and did it show up on the strand test that way? I’m
going to test some of the herbal/indigo brands and see what happens,
but I’d die if it came out green on my head! I panicked initially
over the orange, but now I’m happy with it, and I’m beginning to
think I’m better off to stay rusty than take a chance on greeny!
Still, I’d love to achieve something a bit more burgundy…
I’m sorry this is so long. Like I said before, I’m glad you found a
colour you are happy with. I’m really surprised the pure henna was
able to cover the green! Interesting. Are you okay with going so much
darker? I really prefer to stay a redhead if I can. TIA Dagny for any
advice!

.
