terps for hair henna?

I'm going to henna my hair for the first time tommarrow, and I was
wondering if terps make any difference on your hair. The henna mix
I use on my skin is just henna/lemon juice/sugar/tea tree oil/clove
oil. I was planning on using the same recipe on my hair, minus the
sugar. Do terps affect the color tone, or just allow more dye to
release?
