: Well, I've never ever ever, dyed, or done anything chemical to my
: hair, except for a perm back in the 6th grade, and I'm 25 now. I
: have waist length, dark brown hair, that i think has some red
: hightlights in it. It's very healthy so I'm still kinda nervous
: about doing this. I'm not one to cut of their hair if something goes
: bad. I really needed a change, but I don't want scary hair. How can
: I get deep, dark red. I keep hearing about drying out hair with
: henna, and I definately don't want to ruin my healthy head of hair.

Henna can't turn brown into red, but it will turn matte brown into deep,
shiny brown, and you can see the red if you catch the sunlight just
right. As to drying out, a little jojoba will fix that. There is no
cumulative drying out with henna, but I find henna dust stuck to my
hair after I henna. I use jojoba and shea on my hair, and that and the
henna leave it so soft I run my hands through it just to feel the
softness.
