: It sounds like senna is the answer. Catherine is currently
: experimenting with it (how's it going, Catherine?) and we all keep
: hassling her for results. If you wander round the mixes page and
this
: board, as well as Catherine's page on different plants used for
: dyeing, this kind of thing's discussed a fair bit. The ones people
: mention for blondeness are chamomile (never worked for me, but
: possibly I don't use enough or my hair's too dark), lemon juice
(think
: you need to go into the sun afterwards), and saffron is on
Catherine's
: list but no one here seems to have used it and I suspect it would
be a
: very bright yellow, not to mention extortionately expensive. Fia
also
: recommends strong black tea, marigold infusion, rhubarb root (which
: she says can give a very yellow end result) and turmeric (which I
: imagine would be pretty yellow too).
:
: But I'm just summarising what everyone else is saying, ask them!
You
: can also buy commerical "henna" mixes in blonde shades. Now the
thing
: is, they are unlikely to have much henna in them since henna is red
: and only red, so while some may be nice little mixes of
abovementioned
: plants, others might have less desirable ingredients. Again, snoop
: around the board, people discuss them quite a lot.
:
: I am now going to boil up something fun for a herbal rinse, maybe
some
: coffee or cloves or something. I doubt it's going to make a
: permanent difference without hennaing, in fact I doubt it'll make a
: difference at all, but it'll be fun and they do smell lovely.

The tumeric hasn't given nearly as yellow of results as I'd hoped
(wanted to get to that startling orange-red-copper shade...sigh)
