: Hi there!
:
: I hear you! I am also becoming a bit obsessive, doing countless
tests
: on harvested hair, but haven't done my head yet! ( I have however
: finally worked up the nerve to do a strand test ON my head and the
: result is beautiful!) This is just so much fun! I love mixing
: up "potions" so this is just up my alley. I am also extremely
: cautious by nature and always research a thing to death before I
do
: it! Having never done anything to my hair in all my 40 years, I'm
: taking it slowly...
:
: I am new to all of this as well, but have read this site from end
to
: end, and I'm thinking that on dark or medium brown hair, you
should
: get close to what you are looking for, that is dark burgundy low
: lights. Have you studied the "mixes" page? Check out Monica's
hair,
: she also started with med. brown and her result is gorgeous.
: I am actually envious of those of you starting with brown hair, I
: think the possibilities for you are even more interesting ( I am
: starting as a natural redhead; I can only hope for red and MORE
RED!)
:
: My favourite result so far has come from a mix of red wine (a
Merlot)
: and body art henna. It has given me the deepest most chestnut
: results. I know you say you used red wine VINEGAR but try just
wine,
: a deep purpley variety. You could also try spiking it with ground
: cloves if the result is too subtle; the cloves definitely lend a
: deeper plummy red.
: I haven't personally tried black walnut powder, but I think
that's
: the way to go for a really brown result.
:
: You only need to use a few teaspoons of henna to carry out a test
on
: a lump of hair, so buy a small amt. or get one of Catherines
samples
: of body art quality henna and keep testing! ( I have just
discovered
: that once you've found a mix you like, doing a strand test ON your
: head is invaluable in showing you what looks good "on".)
: good luck with it!

Wine and cloves...hmmm sounds promising. Yeah, I guess I'm gonna
hafta order up another sample or two here Hehehe And uh, could
someone give me a ballpark figure on wine? I haven't a clue This
will all have to wait a couple weeks yet..so, I'll be harvesting
like a mad woman until I have the funds LOL

I agree about the fun of mixing up potions. As my link says..I make
homemade soap. So I'm always fooling around, concocting new recipes.
This just fits right in. That's it..THAT's why Im so obsessed with
this LOL I feel just like I did when I got into soap making LOL

Well, off I go to see how much $ I have left in my paypal acct ;)
Then see what goodies I can get here.
