Someone recently mentioned batana oil on LHC. I googled around and found that it's in the genus Jessenia, in the family Arecaceae (palms), it grows in Honduras, and it has earned a tribe there the nickname "beautiful hair people". Can I get some without going to Honduras?
I believe that what you're talking about is also called red palm oil and is used in the very expensive Ojon products. I bought a liter of red palm oil for $3 at a local Indian grocery. There is a whole thread about this on the long hair community forum. I mix mine with shea butter, coconut oil and lavender EO. I love it. It makes my hair really soft. I think Markey at www.gardenofwisdom also carries it.

I am selling Batana Oil on ebay. I am able to get it into the US direct from honduras. This is the real deal 100% Hand made Batana Oil that is used to make the expensive hair products.
If you know how to make conditioner that this is for you.
Tried the Ojon treatment. It worked pretty well, but, at least after only one treatment, it wasn't remarkably better than my usual homemade conditioner (olive oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin E, etc). Also, it kind of smelled funny - a bit like tobacco. Al in all, a good product, but not so good as to warrant spending that much money all the time.
I also spent 50 bucks on the Ojon products and they are good but not so outstanding for the price they charge. Does the palm oil work as well? Where do you find shea butter?
I have Batana for sale right now.You won't find cheapest Batana products anywhere else and without the outrageous shipping prices others have to offer.Ojon brand has no competition against the 100% natural stuff and it's more efficient.Their marketing works in a way so that you go back to them and keep buying their product for a long period of time.My Batana comes directly from the Moskitia, the bottles are hand-filled by the local Miskito indians.
Just go to Ebay and search for Batana 100% natural. That simple.
